Position Purpose: Part-time sales associates sell quality products, instruct on product use and provide unmatched service to customers on the floor, as well as handle all cashier duties. Must have strong people skills and attention to detail with a desire to learn. Outdoor experience is valuable, though not necessary.

Essential Functions and Typical Tasks:

I. Function: Cashier and maintain POS.

A. Typical Tasks:

1. Complete all retail transactions and returns at POS counter.

2. Properly bag merchandise and provide customers with carry-out assistance when needed.

3. Assist with and direct incoming calls.

4. Keep POS counter clean and organized.

II. Function: Sell merchandise.

A. Typical Tasks:

1. Greet and direct customers according to their needs.

2. Seek out and respond to customer questions.

3. Maintain familiarity with current inventory.

4. Maintain knowledge of products and basic knowledge of footwear, camping goods, climbing goods, etc.

5. Assist with dressing rooms and cleaning procedures.

7. Prepare premises at opening and secure premises at closing.

III. Function: Prepare and display merchandise for sale.

A. Typical Tasks:

1. Unpackage, price and display merchandise on the floor.

2. Ensure all products are tagged with price, appropriate identification and proper signage.

3. Keep floor clean and organized.

4. Move inventory as necessary to fill voids and maintain a complete, fresh look.

5. Create visually inviting displays with product.

6. Visually check inventories and become familiar with backstock.

7. Communicate with management regarding inventory and needed supplies. Record information as required.

Experience/Education/Skills/Requirements:

Experience in the outdoor community beneficial. High School diploma or equivalent required.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Must be comfortable in a retail environment as well as with some outdoor exposure. Must be available to work weekends and a flexible schedule of evenings. Considerable standing and physical activity (bending, stretching, pushing and pulling). Must be able to lift 20 pounds unassisted on a regular basis.
